Diet plan in action....

So John and I are STARVING!!!!!! :-)

Ok, it's not that bad but you know, when you cut from probably 4000 cals a day to less then 2000, your tummy still feels the difference (and looks it too! :-) I've done it before and usually after a week, my body will adjust.... and I can already say that at day 5, we both have noticed a difference in how we feel.... not as much Gas-X, Pepto tabs, no more tired feeling, more energy, and a general feeling of well being :-)

We also made some of our own rules....

1. Low Cal, Low Fat, High Fiber. That's the diet....

2. We both love beer, it's sad but true, not even to "get drunk" but just beer.... so we limited ourselves to 2 nights a week that we will allow ourselves a few drinks of the tasty stuff....

3. We will allow ourselves ONE night of fat dining.... but still with portion control. If I don't indulge every once in awhile, I will fall down, and hard.... so one night a week, we will allow ourselves a meal of "not watching" but not eat in over abundance.

4. We will discuss what we have eaten daily when we are not together, it helps to talk about it, cause then you THINK about it....

5. We are still trying to use less red meat, and supplement with all veggie meals in between.

6. We will attempt to go to the gym 2 days a week to start (I'm not dumb, no sense in killing myself right off the bat).

7. DRINK MORE WATER!!!!!!

So on that note.... I cooked my first Vegan meal (at least I'm pretty sure it's vegan). And Nina was right... you really have to read and think about this a lot cause it doesn't come easy! I'm sure it will be easier in time but I still have to plan things out to get out of the "drive thru" life style!

Any way.... my first Vegan meal.... Stuffed Vegetables Mediterranean Style with Hummus and Pita. I thought it tasted great but the kids didn't really like it. Ok well, Zak liked it, Izeah took two bites, and Zane pushed the plate away and put his head down on the table. I suppose I can't expect them to change over night and eventually they'll get used to it but Zane.... man that kid has a mind all to his own.... if he doesn't want to eat it, there is NO convincing him!!!

Here are some pics :-) Hope you enjoy them!

This is the stuffing...

Prep time....

Yummy.... I made Hummus!

The veggies all stuffed :-)

And the best part of cooking..... trying it out before hand and eating the left over materials :-)

Hey Hey! Look what I got on clearance! Gonna be a whole lot of cookin' goin on!

wow. I'm totally impressed...that looks great! I may have to make that!
Ok. so is your night of high fat eating going to be a beer night too? Because when I drink beer I like to eat. I really like to eat, sometimes with out utensils :) I've been counting my cals...but I added up a typical day before I started counting. Umm....prolly anywhere between 3500-4500.... Unless it was a beer day. Then it would quadruple. Good thing I rarely drink.

Good for you girl! Glad your doing this. Definetly you feel better. I need to start one again. The kiddos will eventually learn to eat it if their hungry and theres nothing else.

Good for you, Dana!! If I wasn't already lying in bed, I'd share a couple of my favorite vegetarian recipes. I promise to come back tomorrow and do that. But, I wanted to share with you something one of my friends just told me this weekend. She was recently diagnosed as hypoglycemic, so she has to be on a low-carb diet now. Her doctor specifically said to try Michelob Ultra Light Beer because it's the lowest in carbs. Give it a try!
