Progress again!

Remember that whole blog I did about joist in the kitchen supporting the bathroom floor and the beam being cut? Well I've started the fixing of that structural damage to the kitchen.... we are doing it in a phase by phase process and phase one is officially complete! On thursday I had the ceiling tore down so that the structural damage could be better assessed from a whole perspective.....

Now if anyone knows anything about old houses...... tearing down lathe and plaster is probably one of the dirtiest jobs there is in a house. The dust goes EVERYWHERE. I have spent the last 2 days cleaning EVERY dish in my kitchen and cleaning out ALL the cabinets. Also cleaning out Zane's room cause his poor room was right under the kitchen and most of the dust settled upstairs in his little room.....

Pretear down..... that little whole in the ceiling is how we discovered this problem......

You can only see the 3 joist that have been cut here.... from a side shot you can see that they are falling about 1.5 inches from each other.......

This is how we all pretty much felt that day, Brad just put it into perspective for us all :-)

Joe is obviousley trying to keep spirits up :-) (Of course he was the only smart one wearing a mask !)

Job complete!!! Ceiling is down......

True definintion of a HUGE problem...... Three cut beams to run the bathroom plumbing and now my bathroom is slowly sinking!!!

I'll keep everyone posted as more work is done :-) I'm getting more info on monday and we'll see where we go from there!
