Lollapalooza ReCap

Yep... we were F*ing nuts taking the kids to Lolla!

Truth be told it was a mix of fun times and tough times :) The kids enjoyed themselves most of the time and we enjoyed ourselves on occasion :) I'm just gonna break down the recap into highlights :)

*Transporting 4 kids, 2 adults, and enough gear to last a whole day at a music festival proves to be one of the more difficult things I've done in life, short of giving birth.

*I discovered muscles I never even knew I had! Day four, body started adjusting and we, of course, go home! Thank you baby jesus for ibuprofen.

*The train was the highlight of the trip for Izeah! That kid asked about 5 times an hour, "Mommy, when are we gonna ride the "el" train again????".... he would even ask it RIGHT after we got off the train! :)

*Zane is a rockstar. Period. That boy let loose his personality at the fest and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. He danced for 2 straight hours at Kings of Leon, and danced all day Sunday for the most part. I'm actually wondering if there is strange videos/pictures of him out there on the web because I lost count of how many people took pictures or video of him.

*Zak now knows what "drugs" smell like. He told me so. (Good thing we had "the drug" talk before we went!)

*Kayla got to see a ton of bands! She also made a comment "There are ALOT of drunk people here!" Now now, some may think it's bad to expose the kids to this so young, but I on the flip side think it's good. They saw people so messed up, it was redonkulous. I can only hope that being exposed to it will stay in her mind when someone offers her that first drink. Hopefully she'll remember all the "really drunk people" and it will prevent her from being that way at a young age.

*Referring to the above statements, there was a lot of open parenting bonding times when talking was good for all of us :)

*I'm doubtful the younger ones will go to a music fest with us for a couple of years... bottom line, their little legs get tired which means John's and mommy's arms and shoulders get VERY tired!

*Thank you Sara!!! John's college friend gave us a nice break by watching the kiddos for a night! It was worth more then gold!

*The apartment we stayed in was AWESOME! It was a kid friendly bed and breakfast apartment with 3 bedrooms and a full kitchen and bath!!!!! It was in a quiet little neighborhood close to the blue line with a grocery and Walgreen's right around the corner! The owners are amazing and pretty much leave you alone :) The name of the place is Wicker Park Inn and I'm linking it RIGHT HERE! I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone and everyone. You won't be disappointed and the rates are extremely reasonable for Chicago!

*Friday Rain at a music Fest? Rain = Mud = Sucks = STINKY!

(Go ahead.... ask me how comfortable the above picture was!)

*SUNDAY WAS HOT. Done. That's all I need to say about that day!

*SNOOP DOG. Yup. Awesome. John told the kids that while he was performing ONLY, they could say the F-bomb. I think that alone was the highlight for all of them combined (as they stared at us in disbelief that they could say a naughty word for 40 minutes and not get soap in their mouths!)

Well... That about does it! Over all it was good. Only one person had a bad opinion and voiced it at us (but no fears... mommy Dana put that that little punk ass piece of Shit in his place). The rest of the time people were awesome. Tons of compliments on the kids, and some for us too... I suppose we are "cool parents" :) People even helped us out a lot! There were times we were in such a crowd that we had to snake around people to get out and some nice stranger would lead the way for us :) We did have doubts we could do this but I think that doubt helped us prevail and accomplish this little mission :)

Peace out! :)
